Bermuda Security Group was founded in 1969. It was joined in 1980 by Bermuda Central Station to provide security systems and a locally based alarm monitoring station. This enabled the Company to offer the fullest range of security services and the foundations for the future growth were completed in 1984 with the acquisition of premises at 42 King Street, Hamilton.
In April 1999 the two operating companies came together as Bermuda Security Group Limited, which now centralizes all accounting and employment activities. Also in 1999, the Company invested in a joint venture in The Cayman Islands, which led to the setting up of The Security Centre Ltd. in April 2000. It is intended that this will become the base of the Company business interests throughout the Caribbean as further business opportunities are explored in that region.
In June 2002, Mr. Herman Tucker acquired the Company. At this time, Mr. Tucker had some 20 years experience in the Public Sector including 9 years at the executive level of the Bermuda Civil Service. He also held appointments as Director Civil Aviation, Permanent Secretary of Transport and Assistant Cabinet Secretary.
In 2010, BSG underwent some additional major changes when it took over the monitoring and service of a large client base previously serviced by Integrated Systems of Bermuda (ISB). BSG also formed a partnership with Safeguard International Security Ltd. Bermuda by combining their Guard Services Divisions and forming a new company, Security Associates Limited. As well, with the acquisition of Safeguard’s Locksmithing and Fire Suppessant unit into the company group Safe Ltd. was formed.
In April 2010, Mr. Tucker, whilst remaining as Company President and Chairman, stepped down from his position as C.E.O. of BSG handing over the overall management of the company to Mr. Wayne Edwards who was promoted from V.P. Security Services to Chief Operating Officer. Mr. Edwards is supported by an experienced management team with many years of security experience behind them.
